We are the exclusive manufacturer of the officially licensed Centennial of Naval Aviation G-1, celebrating 100 years of naval flight from 1911-2011. This military-style G-1 jacket features embroidered naval aviator wings above a silkscreened rendering of the official Naval Aviation Centennial logo (and the superimposed Navy Flyer's Creed) on a silky golden-hued satin nylon lining. The jacket is based on the WWII pattern and is made from the finest mil-spec goatskin available, resulting in a durable military-worthy garment that's also extremely soft & supple. NEW ITEM! US Wings is proud to re-introduce the Original Pattern "Raiders"-style Jacket, based on the specs of Neil Cooper, who designed the original movie jacket three decades ago. While there are many Indy-style jackets available (including our own), this original pattern jacket hasn't been seen for almost 30 years! Following Neil Cooper's specs to the letter, we painstakingly recreated this classic jacket and will be offering it in a choice of four leathers: cowhide, calfskin, striated lambskin, and horsehide.
Features include two front cargo pockets with side-entry handwarmers, pleated action back for freedom of movement, side adjustment straps with rectangular buckles, an interior pocket, nylon lining, nickel zipper, and plain cuffs & bottom.

"Striated" lambskin starts with the finest French lambskin available: it's extremely soft, supple and substantial too (not like the paper-thin lambskin you might find in a "fashion" leather jacket). The lambskin is then hand-stretched to achieve its unique striated appearance. This results in a wonderfully "grainy" and rugged-looking jacket, each with its own distinctive characteristics (so no two jackets will look exactly alike).

While horsehide was quite plentiful in the early 20th century (horsehide was the original spec leather for the USAAF's A-2 jacket back in 1931), it's not a particularly common jacket material these days. It's extremely tough and durable, making it the leather of choice if you ever find yourself being dragged behind a truck or battling Nazis atop a moving tank.

Quality + Value: Our US Wings Current Issue A-2 is based on the latest USAF A-2 pattern (which is an update of the "second generation" A-2s issued in 1987). Although it features a number of functional & comfort upgrades, this jacket is still unmistakably an A-2, a classic jacket originally adopted by the USAAF back in 1931.
The current issue pattern includes side-entry handwarmer pockets (the first military-issue A-2 to include this as a standard feature), two inside wallet pockets, an interior double slotted pen/pencil pocket, and side panels for a more comfortable fit. Other features include a premium dark brown goatskin shell, two front snap-flapped cargo pockets, a snap-down collar (which secures the collar against prop or jet wash — or just a strong wind), an exterior windflap that conceals the solid antiqued brass zipper beneath it, a one piece back, knit cuffs & waistband, shoulder epaulets, and a poly-twill lining.
